PANTONE'S 2012 COLOR OF THE YEAR

Pantone, the global authority on color and provider of professional color standards for the design industries, announced on December 8th that PANTONE® 17-1463 Tangerine Tango, a vivacious, enticing hue, is the color of the year for 2012.

“Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.”

Want to use Tangerine Tango in your wedding? It can be the splash of color your already neutral palate may need. Incorporate it in your flowers, stationary, and pillows for your lounge seating. If you're a little more daring this would be the perfect vibrant color for your bridesmaids and tangerine linens are sure to brighten up your reception!

Many past brides have already jumped on the orange bandwagon so there's lots of inspiration out there. When it comes to infusing color, the options are endless. We're looking forward to seeing how all you newly engaged couples use it in your upcoming weddings.

THANK YOU FOR ANOTHER GREAT YEAR!!

2011 was a memorable year for Viva both personally and professionally. Along with the addition of a beautiful baby girl to the Viva family, we were honoured to receive several acclamations from the wedding industry and grateful once again to have been chosen by such wonderful couples as their preferred wedding coordinator.

We of course can’t take all the credit for the flawless execution of the many stylish weddings we were a part of in 2011. Viva is so very fortunate to work with the best of the best when it comes to wedding vendors. Every year Viva thanks you for your talent, professionalism, and willingness to go above and beyond to make our couples happy and this year isn’t any different. We couldn’t do it without you!

Viva would also like to send a great big thank you to other wedding planners in the Ottawa area and abroad. While the wedding industry is a competitive one, it takes a strong, confident woman to rise above this and see that working together benefits not only our own business but our clients as well. Viva's so lucky to have developed wonderful relationships and many solid bonds with several talented planners and would like to thank you for your friendship and support.

While we’re sad to see 2011 go, we can’t hold back our excitement for all that lies ahead. A new year brings new weddings and we’re absolutely thrilled about the fabulous couples we’ve booked for 2012. From elaborate city glam to intimate country chic, it’s going to be a great year!

Happy New Year from Viva la wedding and all the best to everyone in 2012!!

Now that we finally have a little snow on the ground we thought we’d share a few images from a couple of cute engagement sessions to get you in the Christmas spirit. The first session comes to us from Sara Hasstedt Photography, the second brought to you by Erin Samuel of A Simple Photograph. Christmas is right around the corner. Do you have your tree yet?

A Last Minute Idea To Make Your Home Festive and Entertaining Ready

If you are like me this holiday season probably means a few unexpected guests dropping by for drinks.  One of my favourite ideas to make my home festive and entertaining friendly is to get a string of fairy lights and pop them in a glass dome or vase.  It gives everything a festive feel and keeps the mood lighting cocktail friendly.  Do you have any other last minute ideas to make your home festive and guest ready?

Easy Ideas For Your Photobooth Backdrop

One of my favourite parts of our wedding was the Photobooth, I loved being able to play art director and pull together how it was going to look and feel.  Outside of the people, the backdrop is the most important part to give a strong photo.  From sheets strung together for a homespun feel to hanging fabric streamers for something whimsical it can be super easy.  If you are after a little more effort then think about mini bunting for a DIY look or masses of tinsel overlapping for a serious party vibe.  Whatever you do, project the kind of wedding you want!

7 Year Wedding - A Year in Review Part 2!

We're back for the next installment into what's been happening at 7 Year Wedding this year.  Did you enjoy part 1?  I definetly enjoyed digging through all the articles!  Let's get right into part 2....

In July we looked at turning your sofa into a piece of retro goodness. Our Mid Centurytook their Karlstad Sofa and hacked it into a gorgeous mid century number complete with tufting and retro wooden legs. It was totes awesome.

In August we looked at how to turn your rental property into a home.  A topic close to my heart (after many painstaking hours trying things out on my own home - haha!)From using drapery to treat your windows to using area rugs to define a space, we covered lots of tips and tricks!

In September we took a squizz at veils that are done to perfection from Twigs and Honey. I want to get married again just to use one of these numbers.

In October we deliberated over what makes the J Crew look so ah-mazing.  After much official scientific observation we thought it was all about layer upon layer with bright pops of colour or pattern. And of course the more mis matched you go the better the outcome.

In November we were captivated by Emma and Andy's perfect summer english wedding.  With bright and cherry decor and a couple that has some 60's style going on, this happy wedding from Retrosight is full of goodness.

And that my dear friends, takes us to December.  This month,

Happy Weekend = Christmas Prep!

Woooooooooo Hooooooooooooooo! It's the weekend and I am excited!  We've just broken up from work for 3 glorious weeks and I am SO EXCITED.  This weekend I'm starting to get serious about my Christmas preparation - there is a dessert bar to be sorted, menu cards and name tags to be developed and presents to wrap.  We are off to a party and to a Carols by Candlelight.  Its a Christmas weekend extravaganza!

7 Year Wedding - A Year in Review Part 1!

My darling readers, it is nearly the end of the year (can you believe that?!?) So I thought I'd do a wrap up of what's been happening this year at 7 Year Wedding.  Lets get started with the first half of the year.....

In January we took a look at Handmade Weddings, A Fab little book by the clever girls of Sabrina & Eunice of Hello!Lucky and stylist Shauna Faust. 50 projects for DIY goodness for a handmade wedding.

In February I showed you a little Valentines gift to The Big A - a cute little 'fill it out yourself' book from Etsy goodness seller Cori Kindred

In March I got married!!!!  It was so much fun to be able to share all the joy with you.

In April we took a look at Maiden Braids which I'd been wanting to do for aaaaaages.

In May we took a look at this seaside chic shack in upstate new york is rented every year by the same couple. It had the most perfect mix of eclectic beachy goodness.

In June we took a look at Ashely's backyward birthday bash.  It was right up my alley - laid back, easy and a cool community vibe going on.
