Second Hand Sunday Score! Once Worn Jimmy Choo's for $60!

Welcome back to the week my darlings, did you have a nice break?  Yesterday was my very favourite Second Hand Sunday.  Our local council opens up the neighbourhood for a morning of garage sales.  We had a super fun group of family and friends ready to pound the pavement and the sales didn't disappoint!  From once worn Jimmy Choo's for $60 (spotted and bought for a lovely girl friend), a cute tribal skirt all the way to a half dozen of mini milk bottles for a buck there were bargains galore!!  Check out my scores below.....

Simple And Easy Valentines Idea For This Weekend

Valentines is just around the corner and this weekend is the perfect time to be preparing a little something for your loved one.  For The Big A and I, we don't like to buy presents, instead it's all about doing or making something special for the other one.  Some of my fav presents have been surprising him with a morning tea pack at work that I freshly baked and couriered over to him.  Another year, I left a helium heart balloon attached to his favourite lollies out the front of his work for him to find.  This year I've got the hankering to bake a little pie and then pack it up cutely like this goody?

How We Threw The Best. Ever. Australia Day BBQ

Last Thursday we celebrated Australia Day and boy was it fun! This year The Big A and I invited everyone over to celebrate at our place and we had so much fun I had to stop and take a mental picture to remember just how good it was (PS Does anyone else do mental snapshots or is that just me being a dag?!?)  The rain stopped just as the BBQ started, the peach bellini's were free flowing and as evening fell we ended up on the street with more drinks and a marathon game of cricket.  Even passers by joined in on the fun.  For me, the success of this BBQ came by including lots of detail to give the day a special feel, we had a great combination of guests and we kept the party momentum up by introducing activities. What do  you do to make your parties a success?

Our Super Fun Photo Booth and DIY Back Drop

Making our wedding fun was a PRIORITY for the Big A and I.  So one of the best things we did was to have a Photo Booth from the uber talented Jess at In An Instant Photography.  To keep with our DIY feel we created a fun photo booth backdrop of kraft paper hearts hanging at different heights.  Using the backdrop gave our photos depth and a really fun prop to play with.

Oh and if you are looking for any more inspiration ....

New Year - Your New Home

Confession time - bringing in the new year makes me readdress my goals.  I have a list for myself, my career and my home.  Okay is that dorky to have goals for your home?!?!  Maybe it is, but I always like to think of my home afresh in the new year and 2012 is no exception.  Here's what's on the agenda for me, but I'm curious - what are your projects for the home this year?

1. Beautify my garden

2. Work on the dining room

3. Create a no fuss piece of artwork for the lounge

4. Make a window pelmet for the lounge

5. Most importantly, put our home to good use and entertain!

7 Year Wedding - A Year in Review Part 2!

We're back for the next installment into what's been happening at 7 Year Wedding this year.  Did you enjoy part 1?  I definetly enjoyed digging through all the articles!  Let's get right into part 2....

In July we looked at turning your sofa into a piece of retro goodness. Our Mid Centurytook their Karlstad Sofa and hacked it into a gorgeous mid century number complete with tufting and retro wooden legs. It was totes awesome.

In August we looked at how to turn your rental property into a home.  A topic close to my heart (after many painstaking hours trying things out on my own home - haha!)From using drapery to treat your windows to using area rugs to define a space, we covered lots of tips and tricks!

In September we took a squizz at veils that are done to perfection from Twigs and Honey. I want to get married again just to use one of these numbers.

In October we deliberated over what makes the J Crew look so ah-mazing.  After much official scientific observation we thought it was all about layer upon layer with bright pops of colour or pattern. And of course the more mis matched you go the better the outcome.

In November we were captivated by Emma and Andy's perfect summer english wedding.  With bright and cherry decor and a couple that has some 60's style going on, this happy wedding from Retrosight is full of goodness.

And that my dear friends, takes us to December.  This month,

7 Year Wedding - A Year in Review Part 1!

My darling readers, it is nearly the end of the year (can you believe that?!?) So I thought I'd do a wrap up of what's been happening this year at 7 Year Wedding.  Lets get started with the first half of the year.....

In January we took a look at Handmade Weddings, A Fab little book by the clever girls of Sabrina & Eunice of Hello!Lucky and stylist Shauna Faust. 50 projects for DIY goodness for a handmade wedding.

In February I showed you a little Valentines gift to The Big A - a cute little 'fill it out yourself' book from Etsy goodness seller Cori Kindred

In March I got married!!!!  It was so much fun to be able to share all the joy with you.

In April we took a look at Maiden Braids which I'd been wanting to do for aaaaaages.

In May we took a look at this seaside chic shack in upstate new york is rented every year by the same couple. It had the most perfect mix of eclectic beachy goodness.

In June we took a look at Ashely's backyward birthday bash.  It was right up my alley - laid back, easy and a cool community vibe going on.

Secret Beach Saturday

I know its Sunday and I don't normally post but I could not resist sharing this with you!  Yesterday The Big A and I got up early and along with Bo Bo we visited a tiny secret beach where doggies are aloud to visit (on lead) Its behind a tiny little boat club and it couldn't be more adorable if it tried.  I'm already thinking of the picnic dinners we can have down here! Take a look at a little snapshot of our secret beach Saturday.......
